Augusta

This is a continuation of Georgia post written today.  Couldn't get Blogger to allow me to continue!  On way to Harlem, we stopped at Brookfield, nice quiet park.  Really hot!  Then to Macon Shrine Park, another pretty quiet park except for thunderstorms!  Then to Milledgeville, GA for 2 nights over the 4th of July.  Couldn't believe we didn't even hear one firecracker!  Beautiful park!  A lady named Brenda gave me 2 homegrown tomatoes while we were out.  We stopped for lunch, and I left them on the dashboard!  Not smart....had stewed tomatoes when we came out!  I used them in spaghetti sauce!  Lots of beautiful old homes at Milledgeville.  More thunder and lightning.  Seems to be more of the norm than the exception for those storms.
We parked at Heritage RV Park at Augusta, GA, and drove car to Harlem.  There were no RV parks there, anyway.  Heritage is ordinary park, no pool, etc., but large enough lots and we can pick up Dish TV and antenna.  Went to Augusta Historic Center and went through the museum of fabrics, weaving, and electric power plant.  Interesting in that the whole family worked in the factories, even the little children.  Took a boat cruise on a  little canal.  It was man-made to allow shipping when the river was not navigable.  Interesting to see the town from that vantage point.

After boat ride, had lunch at Fat Man's Cafe.  Al said it was the best hamburger he'd had in a LONG time.  I had a great salad as well.
We took a drive to 2 of the Corps of Engineer Campgrounds outside Augusta, Petersburg and Riverridge Road Campgrounds . Petersburg is 19 miles from town, Riverridge is 31.  With our Golden Age Pass, these are only $12 /night with water and electric, and a dump station on site.  We decided to move  for the next week.  Beautiful quiet secluded spaces, and nice hosts at both parks.  We decided on Petersburg Campground and found this beautiful spot on the lake's inlet.

Our RV Refrigerator has quit working again, and a new cooling unit was replaced again.  Still not getting cold, so after repair guy fiddled around for a couple days, and more tests run, he has now ordered 2 different parts.  So, we have plugged back in at Heritage RV Park again.  Why?  The Beautiful campground at Petersburg also was home to a JILLION ANTS!  They got into our kitchen cupboards, bathroom, bedroom, etc.  We sprayed inside and out, and finally they were lessening, but we had to move from that spot and decided to just move on back to Augusta.
So, here we are waiting for the parts to arrive and get installed.  Then will hang out for a couple more days to be sure the refrigerator works this time!!!!
So, now you see why I haven't blogged for awhile.  Just not much excitement!  My knee is almost all healed up, and no crutches or wheelchair needed.  We are both well and life could definitely be a lot worse!  Love to you all,
Sylvia & Al
