Day 4Redding CA

We did NOT leave May 2 like we had hoped....changed our date many times, but FINALLY got out of town loaded to the roof on June 22...the official 1st day of Summer! It was drizzly and cloudy, as it had been for all spring, and we found a little sunshine as we headed south.

Spent the 1st night at 7 Feathers Casino lot, got up early and drove to Grants Pass where we had some improvements done to the steering system, saw Terry & Darlene (had dinner at Taproot ...a beautiful place and good food), and headed south in the morning.

We stopped often, walked around, napped, etc...our 1st official day of no deadlines, schedules, etc!!! We have found SUMMER! It was 99 last I checked yesterday here at Redding! We are parked at their Wal-Mart...rented a movie, "Yogi Bear", and giggled like kids. The kitties are traveling well. Bet they wish they could get a hair cut!

Next destination is Las Vegas to see daughter, Jan! So anxious to see her. Not sure how many stops along the way before we get there. Just contacted an RV driving school, as I need to learn! They have a class in Auburn, CA...will get more info. I am scared to try, but know I can do it....Can't be harder than driving the Rockaway Fire Truck??? But then, this is OURS!

Sorry no pics, yet. Have to learn how to get the photos off my new camera and onto the PC.
We will check in along the way. Love to all, Al & Sylvia

  1. Dorothy did go thru the Women's Drive class at Forest City and then drove rest stop to rest stop several times. I needed the tranquilizers as I did not LIKE the view from the Right side, Good luck with class an make sure that you have plenty of Tranquilizers for Al.

  2. Peggy took a class in Forest city with a 45' tandem axle and got her confidence up. They even had her drive through town. She drives from rest stop to rest stop and gives me a break. Even if I don't sleep I get the rest I need to go an extra hundred miles. I view the trip for the day and pick about a 45 min drive for her with no big down or upgrades. That way she doesn't have to worry about remembering how to brake and use the engine brake and so on. She does a great job and if I have a heart attack or something she can get the motor home around. Its been a huge help!
